Early Years:

Formed out of the dissolution of a number of local bands in Wichita Falls, Texas, Bowling For Soup began with the intetion of being a "punk rock Beatles." Despite that grand goal, the band rarely saw themselves as serious musicians. However, after relocating to Denton, Texas, Bowling For Soup found themselves to be a strong local concert draw.

National Attention:

Bowling For Soup's firt album Rock On Honorable Ones!! appeared on a local record label in 1997 and eventually sold 10,000 copies. After their second album Tell Me When To Whoa!! generated buzz on local radio stations, Jive Records expressed interest and the band found themselves signed to a major record label.

Major Hits:

2000's Let's Do It For Johnny, the first Bowling For Soup album on Jive, included a punk pop version of Bryan Adams' "Summer Of '69." The band's reputation continued to build and their 2002 album Drunk Enough To Dance included their pop singles chart debut "Girl All the Bad Guys Want." Bowling For Soup's popularity grew through exposure on MTV and opening for bands Sum 41 and Blink-182. The band found themselves reaching a new level of respectability when "Girl All the Bad Guys Want" was nominated for a 2003 Grammy Award.

Following the publicity for their Grammy Award nomination, Bowling For Soup regrouped for their next album. A Hangover You Don't Deserve appeared in September 2004 and included the 80's nostalgia-soaked top 10 radio hit "1985." The album reached the top 40 of the pop albums chart and also included the single "Always." The single "Ohio (Come Back To Texas)" appeared in the early summer of 2005 and was a minor pop single success.

In fall 2006, the single “High School Never Ends” began climbing the pop singles charts. It was the first song off of the album The Great Burrito Extortion Case due for a November release.
