The rock band Hinder formed in 2002 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Guitarist Joe Garvey and drummer Cody Hanson discovered Austin Winkler singing for a cover band at a college party. The three formed the core of Hinder, and the group began playing local gigs. Bass player Mike Rodden and rhythm guitarist Mark King were added to the band later.

Quote from Hinder drummer Cody Hanson :

From Hinder's official web site:

"We live the lifestyle. That's what rock is supposed to be about -rebellion and having fun. We've been blessed with the opportunity to play music as a career, so we might as well take advantage of it and have a good time."

Hinder on Tour:

Hinder gained a strong local following from their live shows. They released a local EP that sold approximately 5,000 copies and set out touring throughout North America. Signed to a recording contract with Universal, the band released the album Extreme Behavior in September, 2005.

"Lips of an Angel":

"Get Stoned," the first single from Extreme Behavior, gained airplay on rock radio and eventually landed at #4 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. With the release of a second single "Lips of an Angel" and a spot supporting Nickelback on tour, the band's success moved up another level. By the end of August, 2006, "Lips of an Angel" had reached the top 20 on the pop singles chart and Extreme Behavior had been certified gold and reached the top 20 of the album chart.
