Lily Allen is the daughter of British comedian Keith Allen. She claims to have attended 13 different schools between the ages of 5 and 15. As an alternative to lasting friendships, Lily Allen immersed herself in music. She listened to everything from T.Rex to the Happy Mondays. At the age of 15 Lily Allen, a rebellious teenager, left school for good.

Lily Allen and MySpace:
In the fall of 2005, Lily Allen (allegedly against the wishes of her record label) began posting demos of her music to her personal site on the social networking giant MySpace. Acclaim for her music began to spread across the network and eventually caused early release of her recordings. Her first single "LDN" appeared as a limited edition 7" vinyl record in April, 2006.

Lily Allen's second single "Smile" appeared in June, 2006 and it went to #1 in it's second week on the pop singles chart. Her first album Alright, Still entered stores in July first as 12" vinyl and then later on CD. It reached #2 at home in the UK. "Smile" eventually rose into the top 25 of the US pop singles chart helping Alright, Still reach the top 20.
Personal Life in the Tabloids:
Lily Allen is one of the most publicly outspoken of pop stars. This has caused her to be a subject of much speculation in tabloid newspapers. She has made public disparaging remarks about Amy Winehouse, Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue among others. Allen has stated that this tendency is due to her own lack of confidence. Public appearances in which she is obviously intoxicated have also drawn scrutiny in the press.
