Lily Allen is the daughter of British comedian Keith Allen. She claims to have attended 13 different schools between the ages of 5 and 15. As an alternative to lasting friendships, Lily Allen immersed herself in music. She listened to everything from T.Rex to the Happy Mondays. At the age of 15 Lily Allen, a rebellious teenager, left school for good.

In the fall of 2005, Lily Allen (allegedly against the wishes of her record label) began posting demos of her music to her personal site on the social networking giant MySpace. Lily Allen's second single "Smile" appeared in June, 2006 and it went to #1 in it's second week on the pop singles chart. Her first album Alright, Still entered stores in July first as 12" vinyl and then later on CD. It reached #2 at home in the UK. "Smile" eventually rose into the top 25 of the US pop singles chart helping Alright, Still reach the top 20.
