He was born Nicholas Scott Lachey in 1973 in Harlan, Kentucky on the border between Kentucky and Tennessee. Nick Lachey attended Cincinnati's School for Creative and Performing Arts before enrolling for college at Miami University of Ohio. Jeff Timmons, one of Nick Lachey's college buddies, moved to Los Angeles to try to start a career in the music industry. Timmons encouraged Nick Lachey and Justin Jeffre to join him and soon, with the addition of Nick's brother Drew, the group 98 Degrees was born.
