Jesse McCartney was born April 9, 1987 in Westchester County, New York. He began performing onstage in local musicals at the age of 7. Jesse McCartney made his Broadway debut in a production of The King and I at age 10. He also appeared in a production of A Christmas Carol starring Roger Daltrey of the Who. After a stint singing on record with the children's group Sugar Beats, Jesse McCartney was asked to join the boy band Dream Street.

Finally, after 2 years of work, his debut solo album Beautiful Soul was released in September, 2004. The album reached #15 on the pop charts and its title single hit #16. At the age of 17, Jesse McCartney had become one of the most promising teen pop stars.

In 2007 Jesse McCartney collaborated with Ryan Tedder, leader of the group OneRepublic to write the song "Bleeding Love," recorded by Leona Lewis. It became the biggest selling hit of the year in the UK. Early in 2008, McCartney announced that his next album Departure would be in stores May 20, 2008. The new collection opened at #14 on the US album chart giving Jesse McCartney his highest album chart placing thus far. The single "Leavin'" hit #2 becoming his biggest single yet.
