Early Life:
Lindsay Lohan's mother Dina is a former Radio City Rockette who now works as a Wall Street analyst. Her father Michael was an investment banker. Lohan developed an interest in dance and performing with the encouragement of her mother. As a child she participated in dance, gymnastics, soccer and basketball, but her budding acting career soon took most of her attention.
First Acting Successes:
Lindsay Lohan began modeling for the Ford Agency at age three, and then she appeared in over 60 television commercials. As a child she became a regular on soap operas including The Guiding Light, As the World Turns, and Another World. As a young teenager Lohan starred in TV movies for the Disney Channel. She made her debut on the big screen in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap.

Reviews of Lindsay Lohan's performance in The Parent Trap were very positive. In 2003 and 2004 a string of hits launched Lohan to the top of young teen actors. She appeared opposite Jamie Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday and then she became a star with the release of Mean Girls in 2004. Her 2005 movie, Herbie: Fully Loaded, was less successful, but she remains a respected teen actor.
Lindsay Lohan - Singer:
In 2002 Lindsay Lohan decided to try being a pop singer and signed a 5 album deal with producer Emilio Estefan, husband of singer Gloria Estefan. She recorded the theme song to her movie Freaky Friday and in December 2004 released her first album Speak on the Casablanca record label, revitalized by Tommy Mottola. The album reached the top 5 on the albums chart but failed to generate any major hit singles.
Recent Performances:
Descriptions of domestic problems in the Lohan family, the arrest and conviction of father Michael Lohan, and Lindsay Lohan's own car accidents filled tabloid stories through much of 2005. In the fall the single "Confessions Of a Broken Heart (Daughter To Father)" was released detailing Lindsay's response to her father's legal problems. It was accompanied by a riveting video directed by Lindsay herself. A new film Just My Luck is scheduled for a March 2006 release.
