The MTV Video Music Awards were established in 1984 to celebrate the best in music video. Since that time the event has emerged as one of the three most important pop music awards ceremonies in the US.
The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony took place Sunday, September 12, 2010. The show was broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Sunday, September 12, 2010 on MTV. Chelsea Handler hosted the event.
