Tuesday night June 28th all eyes will be on Hollywood for the 5th annual BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards. The event will air live on BET 8 p.m. ET 7 p.m. CT and with a tape delay in Mountain and Pacific time zones. Awards are presented in 14 categories. 10 of the awards are in music categories along with 2 acting awards and 2 sports awards. Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith will be the hosts for the star-studded event. Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey, Ludacris, Missy Elliott and The Game are all scheduled to perform.
In addition to the competitive awards, this year lifetime achievement and humanitarian awards will be presented. Gladys Knight is the recipient of the BET Lifetime Achievement Award for her career of accomplishments in music. Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta are the recipients of the BET Humanitarian Award for their work with children in the U.S. and Africa and on medical research.
