The Billboard Music Awards are the only major music awards based on record charts. The award nominees and winners are tabulated from the Billboard magazine charts in a chart year that stretches from December, 2005 through the end of November, 2006.
The 2006 Billboard Music Awards took place Monday, December 4, 2006. They were broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada at 8 p.m. ET on Fox Television.

Live Performers at the Awards
