Billboard Music Award Nominations 2006

Based on Chart Performance

Thursday, November 30, 2006 the nominations for the 2006 Billboard Music Awards were announced. Nickelback, Mary J. Blige, Rascal Flatts, and T.I. all led the nominations with 5 each. The awards will be presented December 4, 2006 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The ceremonies will be broadcast live on Fox television at 8 p.m. EST. The nominees for the awards are based on their performance on the Billboard charts.

The pop/rock nominations are:

Artist of the Year

  • Chris Brown
  • Nickelback
  • Rascal Flatts

Male Artist of the Year

  • Chris Brown
  • Ne-Yo
  • Sean Paul

Female Artist of the Year

  • Beyonce
  • Mary J. Blige
  • Rihanna

Duo/Group of the Year

  • Nickelback
  • Pussycat Dolls
  • Rascal Flatts

Album of the Year

  • Nickelback - All the Right Reasons
  • Soundtrack - High School Musical
  • Carrie Underwood - Some Hearts

Hot 100 Song of the Year

  • Daniel Powter - "Bad Day"
  • Nelly Furtado featuring Timbaland - "Promiscuous"
  • Sean Paul - "Temperature"

Pop Single of the Year

  • Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean - "Hips Don't Lie"
