The MTV Video Music Awards were established in 1984 to celebrate the best in music video. Since that time the event has emerged as one of the 4 most important pop music awards ceremonies in the US of the year.
The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony will take place Sunday, September 7, 2008. The show will be broadcast live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood, California, Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
