Background

Natasha Bedingfield grew up in the southwest of London. Both of Natasha's parents were born in New Zealand giving Natasha a strong identification with the country of her family's heritage. While a teenager Natasha formed a Christian band the DNA Algorithm with her brother Daniel and sister Nikola. This gave Natasha the opportunity to learn guitar and piano and work on her songwriting.

Sound

It may sound a bit cliche, but Natasha Bedingfield's music is difficult to describe. Writing her own material, she has a classic instinct for writing an appealing pop song, but listening to her lyrics reveals a restless intellect searching for deeper life understanding than the typical radio hit. How many aspiring pop stars mention Byron, Shelley and Keats in one of their first hits? Bedingfield has worked with former Robbie Williams collaborator Guy Chambers among others to hone her pop talents. She can range from mellow ballad to upbeat dance-oriented music, but Natasha Bedingfield sounds most at home with mid-tempo ruminations on the unfolding of life.

On the Horizon

Natasha Bedingfield made a big splash on the charts at home in the U.K. last year. Her single "These Words" hit #1 on the U.K. pop singles chart and her first album Unwritten debuted at the top. Here in the U.S. "These Words" has been picking up momentum as it climbs the pop singles chart and is currently poised to enter the top 10. Unwritten, the album, is due to be released August 2nd.
