Birth and Songwriting Success:
Taio Cruz was born Adetayo Ayowale Onile-Ere in London, England April 23, 1982. His father is Nigerian and mother Brazilian. Taio Cruz signed a music publishing deal at the age of 18. His first major music industry success came as co-writer of Will Young's 2004 hit single "Your Game" which reached #3 on the UK pop singles chart. The song received a Brit Award in 2005 for Best British single.
Taio Cruz' Debut 'Departure':
Taio Cruz' success as a songwriter helped propel him forward as an artist in his own right. He released his debut single as an artist, "I Just Wanna Know," in 2006 and it reached the top 30 on the UK pop singles chart. It was followed by "Moving On" and then the top 5 smash "Come On Girl" featuring Luciana in advance of Taio Cruz' first full-length album Departure released in March 2008. The album was a top 20 hit in the UK and certified gold for sales. Two more singles "I Can Be" and "She's Like a Star" were top 20 pop singles.

Taio Cruz appeared on Tinchy Stryder's #3 breakthrough UK single "Take Me Back" in 2009. He co-wrote the song "Stand Up" on Cheryl Cole's debut album 3 Words. Taio Cruz also co-wrote the song "Keep You" on JLS' UK #1 debut album.
Taio Cruz' 'Rokstarr':
Taio Cruz released the single "Break Your Heart" in the fall of 2009 in advance of his album Rokstarr. It was a #1 smash in the UK. The album Rokstarr reached #14 on the UK album chart. "Break Your Heart" was released as Taio Cruz' US debut single with a guest rap from Ludacris in February 2010. It topped the pop singles chart in the US as well leaping from #53 to the top. In May the single "Dirty Picture" featuring Ke$ha went to #6 in the UK. The album Rokstarr was released in June in the US and cracked the top 10. It was followed by the release of the single "Dynamite" which quickly landed in the top 5 in the US.
