Hip Hop Hurricane Katrina Benefit Concert

On Monday, September 19, 2005, rapper David Banner and comedian Dave Chappelle will headline a Hurricane Katrina benefit concert at B.B. King's Blues Club in Times Square, New York, New York. Proceeds from the concert will go equally to Banner's Heal the Hood Foundation and the Mississippi chapter of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement. Among the other hip hop stars taking part are Remy Martin, Talib Kweli, Styles P, Memphis Bleek, the Last Poets, Q-Tip, the X-ecutioners, and Bazaar Royale.

From the Big Apple To the Big Easy

Two benefit concerts will be held simultaneously at Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall Tuesday, September 20, 2005 in New York City. Among the artists appearing at Madison Square Garden are Simon and Garfunkel, Elton John, Jimmy Buffett, John Fogerty, Lenny Kravitz, Ry Cooder, Stevie Nicks, Fats Domino, Bette Midler, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Kermit Ruffins, Irma Thomas, Clarence "Frogman" Henry, Dave Bartholomew and Troy "Tromboneshorty" Andrews. At Radio City Music Hall are Tom Waits, Dave Matthews, Trey Anastasio, John Mayer Trio, Joss Stone and the Meters. Proceeds from the concert will go to a range of charities benefiting Hurricane Katrina survivors.

In addition to providing the venue for the concert, Madison Square Garden is giving $1 million to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
