What Is Live Earth?

Live Earth is a 24-hour worldwide concert series that will take place on July 7, 2007 or 7-7-07. The purpose of the concerts is to bring people together in a movement to help solve the global climate change crisis. Over 100 musical artists will perform and the worldwide audience via broadcasts is expected to number near 2 billion.

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore in partnership with Kevin Wall, executive producer of Live 8, have spearheaded the creation of Live Earth. Official concerts are planned for Giants Stadium in New York, Wembley Stadium in London, Aussie Stadium in Sydney, Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Maropeng at the Cradle of Humankind in Johannesburg, Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, the Steps of the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, and HSH Nordbank Arena in Hamburg.

Broadcast Information

On the Internet, the concerts will stream live at the MSN Live Earth site.

Multiple options are available for television viewing. The cable network Bravo will run nearly 18 hours of coverage from 9 a.m. July 7, 2007 to 2:30 a.m. EST July 8, 2007. NBC will provide 3 hours of coverage from 8-11 p.m. EST on July 7, 2007. Other networks covering the event include MSNBC, Telemundo, CNBC, MUN2, MUNI HD, and the Sundance channel.

On satellite radio look for coverage from XM and Sirius.
