Are you ready for some...Rolling Stones? The NFL is looking for "a bigger bang" when they kick off the professional football season Thursday, September 8th. A one hour concert pregame special at 8 p.m. ET will feature footage from the Rolling Stones concert tour in support of their A Bigger Bang album due for release 2 days before the NFL event.
Actor Freddie Prinze, Jr. will host the NFL Kickoff event on ABC television. In addition to the Rolling Stones performances, the show will also feature live concert peformances from Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, home of the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Coliseum, home of the first Super Bowl. Country star Trisha Yearwood will perform the national anthem from Gillette Stadium followed by performances from Green Day and Santana. In Los Angeles, Kanye West and Maroon 5 will take the stage.
The kickoff event is just the beginning of a season long collaboration between NFL and the Rolling Stones. Music and video from the Stones will be featured in Monday Night Football promos and highlights and teasers throughout the season.
