When Lollapalooza began as a traveling festival, it was primarily a celebration of alternative music. However, with its permanent residence in Chicago, the destination festival has expanded its reach to include a wide range of genres, mainstream pop music among them. These are the top 10 acts for pop fans at the 2012 festival. Lollapalooza takes place August 3-5, 2012.
Dev - BMI Stage 6:50 p.m. Friday
While constant delays in the release of her debut album The Night the Sun Came Up potentially damaged some of her momentum as a rising artist, Dev remains one of the most exciting new artists to come out of the dance pop underground in recent years. Her single "In the Dark" was a major pop hit, and "Bass Down Low" remains a perennial party favorite.

M83 - Sony Stage 7:30 p.m. Friday
Hurry Up, We'r Dreaming, the most recent album by French electronic band M83, was one of the most critically acclaimed of 2011. The single "Midnight City" has been certified gold and was a top 10 hit on both the alternative and rock songs charts. The music of M83 is used frequently in TV shows and movies.

The Black Keys - Red Bull Soundstage 8:30 p.m. Friday
Rock duo The Black Keys have a well-deserved reputation as one of today's top live acts. They have won three Grammy Awards. Their most recent album El Camino reached #2 on the album chart and generated the hit singles "Lonely Boy" and "Gold On the Ceiling."

fun. - Google Play Stage 4:45 p.m. Saturday
fun. are one of the top breakout pop artists of 2012. Their single "We Are Young" spent six weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The follow up "Some Nights" is just outside the top 10. The group is led by charismatic lead vocalist Nate Ruess.

Calvin Harris - Perry's 7 p.m. Saturday
Calvin Harris first hit the charts in the UK five years ago. However, this is the year he has taken the US by storm. Calvin Harris' first chart appearance in the US came as featured performer on Rihanna's massive #1 pop hit "We Found Love." He has followed that with his own top 20 hits "Feel So Close" and "Let's Go."

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Red Bull Soundstage 8 p.m. Saturday
Red Hot Chili Peppers are a legendary rock group. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this past spring. Red Hot Chili Peppers have released six consecutive top 10 albums and they have nine top 40 pop hit singles.

Avicii - Bud Light Stage 8:30 p.m. Saturday
With the hit single "Levels," Swedish DJ Avicii became a pop star. At the young age of 22 he is already listed in the top 10 among the world's best DJs. In addition to the success with "Levels," Avicii also topped the dance chart in the US collaborating with Leona Lewis on "Collide."

Sigur Ros - Red Bull Soundstage 4 p.m. Sunday
Nearly 20 years since their founding, Icelandic band Sigur Ros remain one of the world's most critically acclaimed pop groups. The sound of the group is ethereal with elements from classical music. Their most recent album Valtari, released this past spring, was the first to reach the top 10 in the US.

Florence and the Machine - Bud Light Stage - 6:15 p.m. Sunday
Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine has one of the pop music world's most compelling and powerful voices. Live performances have helped propel singles like "Dog Days Are Over" and "Shake It Out" into mainstream pop consciousness. Florence and the Machine recently topped the UK pop singles chart for the first time with assistance from Calvin Harris on "Spectrum (Say My Name)."

Miike Snow - Sony Stage 7:15 p.m. Sunday
Initially the Swedish group Miike Snow were best known as a project featuring the production duo known as Bloodshy and Avant (producers of Britney Spears' "Toxic" and "Piece Of Me"). However, Miike Snow have emerged as significant pop artists in their own right. Their most recent album Happy To You was released this past spring and includes the single "Paddling Out."
