The group credits a frequent line by the character Screech from the TV show Saved By The Bell, as well as the classic Beatles song Hello, Goodbye as inspiration for the bands name.
Buddies Forrest Kline and Jesse Kurvink spent much of their high school days recording and mixing music on their own computers. After teaming up with fellow school friends to form their own band, the quartet's power synth-pop developed a solid Internet following, and the group was signed to independent label Drive Thru Records in 2004.
After releasing their self-titled EP, Hellogoodbye toured extensively throughout 2005 and 2006 opening for bands such as All-American Rejects and The Academy Is, as well as making it onto the Warped Tour and winning the MTV Dew Circuit Breakout contest. In August 2006, Hellogoodbye released their first full-length album Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! which debuted in the top 20 of the album chart. Toward the beginning of 2007, the bands single Here In Your Arms began to receive strong radio airplay, and had reached the top 10 of the pop singles chart by February.
