American Idol Contestant:

Adam Lambert auditioned for the eighth season of American Idol singing Queen's classic "Bohemian Rhapsody." He was criticized for being theatrical by judges Simon Cowell and Kara DioGuardi, but he advanced to the Hollywood round despite the complaints. There he performed a stunning version of Cher's "Believe," and he has been a favorite to win the competition since that point. Currently, Adam Lambert is one of four remaining contestants and has only finished once in the bottom three.

The Style of Adam Lambert:

Adam Lambert's performance style has perhaps been the most discussed in the eight seasons of American Idol. His performances are highly theatrical drawing upon his stage experience. He has even referred to them being a bit campy. His dress and makeup evokes androgyny at times. Some weeks Adam Lambert emphasizes looks outside of the mainstream with eyeliner and nail polish, but then he will appear in a three-piece suit with tamed, slicked back hair. None of this masks one of the most stunning vocal ranges and whisper to a scream singing styles yet on the show.

Adam Lambert's Solo Album:

Adam Lambert's solo album is due in stores November 24, 2009. He has worked with a wide range of producers including RedOne, Ryan Tedder, and Max Martin. He has also recorded a song, "Time for Miracles," for the soundtrack to the disaster film 2012. It is scheduled to be available October 16, 2009.
