An Arranged Meeting Forms Metro Station:

Metro Station founders Trace Cyrus and Mason Musso have strong family entertainment connections. Trace is the half-sister of Miley Cyrus, and Mason Musso's brother performs in Miley's show Hannah Montana. The mothers of Trace and Mason, knowing their musical inclinations, arranged a meeting and musical chemistry blossomed. The pair hooked up with synth player Blake Healy and, recording as Metro Station, unleashed "Seventeen Forever," a MySpace favorite, in early 2007.

Band Members:

  • Mason Musso - Vocals, Guitar
  • Trace Cyrus - Vocals, Guitar
  • Blake Healy - Synthesizer
  • Anthony Improgo - Drums

The Sound of Metro Station:

Metro Station's sound is primarily electro-pop with very strong 80's influences. There is an edge to the Metro Station approach that is fueled by a dark undertone to many of their songs.

Major Label Contract:

Following their strong success on the Internet and a feature in Alternative Press as one of the top 22 Underground Bands, Metro Station were signed to a major label contract with Columbia Records. They headed into the studio in 2007 to record the band's self-titled debut album.

Metro Station Breaks Out With "Shake It":

Metro Station's self-titled album was released in September 2007. The band began a heavy touring schedule and promoted the album with the singles "Kelsey" and "Control." However, Metro Station did not catch on with mainstream pop audiences until the release of a 3rd single, "Shake It." The song began a slow climb on pop singles charts eventually ending up in the pop top 10 in the summer of 2008.
