With "Inside Your Heaven," her first single release as American Idol champ, Carrie Underwood blasts onto the pop singles chart at #1. She follows Clay Aiken and Fantasia Barrino as American Idol contestants who also debuted at the top of the pop singles chart with their first release. Underwood faces strong competition for the top next week with the debut of runner-up Bo Bice's version of "Inside Your Heaven." Elsewhere on the singles chart Rihanna climbs 17 spots to #14 with her single "Pon De Replay" and Fat Joe and Nelly enter the top 20 with "Get It Poppin'." Mariah Carey is tops at radio with "We Belong Together."
After last week's stellar debut, Coldplay's X&Y holds firm at the top of the albums chart. The Foo Fighters' In Your Honor has a strong debut at #2 while the Backstreet Boys' #3 opening for Never Gone is disappointing.
