Mariah Carey - Emancipation Of Mimi

The Emancipation Of Mimi

Nov 5 2006

Last week Mariah Carey returned to the top of the pop singles chart for the first time in 5 years, and this week she holds off all challengers. Over on the album chart the rock band Audioslave opens at the top with their second album, and first #1, Out Of Exile.

Mariah Carey's"We Belong Together" continues to pick up in radio airplay where it is now #2, so it looks like Mariah may have a long stay at the top. Just behind is Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl," the #1 radio single and former #1 pop single overall. A bit further down the chart the Killers' "Mr. Brightside" finally enters the top 10.

Just behind Audioslave on the album chart, Chicago-based rapper Common has a hot debut with his album Be. The Emancipation Of Mimi by Mariah Carey holds at #3 for a third week after a week at the top and 3 weeks at #2.
