Comments

It's a very busy this week for the singles chart, but the biggest story is obviously the second straight #1 single for Arctic Monkeys. As I write this, their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not is selling in perhaps record numbers so look for it on top of the album chart next week. Elsewhere, the top 10 is a good representation of the widely varied universe that is the British pop music market. Notorious B.I.G.'s posthumous rap, a remix of Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney, and a reworking of Baywatch theme music all compete for places in this week's top 10.

Top 5 Pop Albums

  3. James Blunt - Back to Bedlam
  4. Will Young - Keep On
  5. Eminem - Curtain Call: The Hits

Comments

There are no notable debuts in the upper reaches of the album chart this week. There is only some shuffling about of the top sets. Hard-Fi climb to the top while James Blunt tumbles back to #3 after returning to the top last week. Will Young takes advantage of the single debut of "All Time Love" to climb back into the top 5.

Best Bets For Next Week's Singles Chart

  • A-Ha - Analogue (All I Want)
The veteran Norwegian band have been the subject of an avalanche of media attention. Look for a strong return to the singles chart next week.
  • Pharrell Williams - Angel
His recent collaboration with Gwen Stefani landed in the top 3.
  • Young Jeezy featuring Akon - Soul Survivor
Young Jeezy is a U.S. rapper who has not yet broken through in the U.K., but Akon has a strong following after topping the charts with "Lonely."
