Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor album generates a second #1 hit this week. "Sorry" is her 12th UK #1 putting her behind only Westlife, Cliff Richard, Beatles, and Elvis Presley on the all time list. Michael Jackson, another pop legend, barely manages to limp into the top 20 with the first of a planned series of re-releases of his major hits. The best new single this week is Corinne Bailey Rae's delightful "Put Your Records On" at #2.

Comments

After taking home the Brit Award for International Breakthrough Artist, Jack Johnson rises 5 notches to #1 on the albums chart. The only major debut of the week belongs to Neil Diamond with his Rick Rubin-produced, stripped-down, critically-acclaimed album of new songs.

Best Bets For Next Week's Singles Chart

  • The Pussycat Dolls featuring will.i.am - Beep
Expect the hit streak to continue. The group's first 2 singles went to #1.
  • Jack Johnson - Better Together
The laidback singer-songwriter has not made it past #50 yet in the UK, but, with his recent Brit Awards recognition, expect this to go much higher.
  • Orson - No Tomorrow
Hailed as the missing link between the Rolling Stones and Scissor Sisters, this band could be big.
