Comments

This is the first week under new UK chart rules. The new rules allow, for the first time, singles to chart before they have been released in a physical form in record stores. However, they can only chart for a single week prior to the store release. The primary single this seems to impact is the Black Eyed Peas' "Pump It" which opens at a comparatively weak, for them, #16. However, when the single actually hits stores it could easily climb into the top 10. The Sugababes is the sole debut inside the top 5 this week with "Red Dress" coming in at #4.

Hot New Albums

Comments

It looks like the older crowd were heading to the stores to buy new albums this week. Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Van Morrison, and David Essex are all 3 favorites from the 1970's and before. Shakira is the sole holdout in the top debuts for a younger generation.

Best Bets For Next Week's Singles Chart

Making predictions will be a bit rough for a few weeks as the charts settle into the new rules.

  • Pink - Stupid Girls
Pink's latest has already caused a stir at home in the US. Look for the UK to welcome her back to the charts with open arms.
  • Nelly featuring Paul Wall, Ali & Gipp - Grillz
The biggest hit ever, hip hop or otherwise, to celebrate tooth appliances.
  • Girls Aloud - Whole Lotta History
The girls charge along looking for another pop hit.
