It is now 7 weeks at the top for Rihanna. MySpace discovery Kate Nash gave Rihanna a good challenge, but ultimately she had to settle for a #2 placing for the single "Foundations." Look for some serious headway in coming weeks by the new singles from Avril Lavigne and Timbaland debuting at #17 and #18 respectively on download sales alone.

Is it an omen for her debut later this week at home in the US? Kelly Clarkson fails to take the top spot on the album chart with her new release My December. Instead, homegrown UK rock band the Editors open on top, one notch higher than the peak of their debut The Back Room. With a #6 debut, legendary 70-year-old singer Shirley Bassey is back in the UK albums top 10 for the first time in nearly 30 years. Her appearance at this year's Glastonbury Festival certainly helped provide a sales boost.
