Comments

I asked you last week what you thought of My Chemical Romance's "Welcome to the Black Parade" and so far the response is unanimously positive. This is one of the first true rock epics unleashed on the pop charts in quite some time. The work of Queen is obviously an influence, but I would bet it couldn't be done without Green Day's American Idiot either. The single leaps into the #1 spot this week with little difficulty.

Comments

The Killers keep a firm grip on the top spot this week. However, the #14 debut by Connie Fisher has an interesting story behind it. Fisher is the winner of the UK reality show How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? The winner received the opportunity to play the role of Maria in a London West End production of The Sound of Music. Connie Fisher has also secured a recording contract, and Favourite Things, including some tunes from The Sound of Music, is her first album.
