Comments

The top 4 singles are the same as last week with just a bit of shuffling, but that is likely to change next week. Girls Aloud rush in at #5 based only on downloads so will be the odds-on favorites to top next week's chart. Beyonce has a strong downloads-only debut at #14 with "Irreplaceable," the song many reviewers, including this one, consider one of the best from her fine B-Day album. Also, Meat Loaf's appearance in the top 10 at #6 should be noted. The song is "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." It was originally recorded by Meat Loaf back in the 80's but sank nearly without a trace. Celine Dion scored a major hit with her own version in the 90's, but now it's back in a fine version by the original intended performer as a taster of the Bat Out of Hell III album.

Comments

The Killers' second album Sam's Town is selling poorly at home in the US, but UK fans can't get enough as it holds at the top of the chart for a third straight week. P. Diddy will be hoping for better than a #11 debut when his album Press Play opens on the US chart later this week. Italian baritone Patrizio Buanne rides the publicity of his 2006 World Cup anthem "Stand Up! (Champions Theme)" to open at #15 with his latest album.
