Hot New Singles

Comments

The Pussycat Dolls become the first American act since the Fugees in 1996 to have 2 #1 hit singles in a single calendar year. They have done it with their first 2 singles, and the jury is still out on whether "Stickwitu" will also be their second #1 in the U.S. It is headed in that direction. Oasis just missed having a 3rd consecutive #1 single coming in at #2 with "Let There Be Love." Kelly Clarkson scores her 3rd straight top 10 hit with a #7 debut from "Because of You."

Hot New Albums

  • #11 The Darkness - One Way Ticket To Hell and Back

Comments

All of last week's top 5 remain except for Will Young's latest. He is replaced by Eminem sliding in at #1 with his greatest hits collection Curtain Call. X Factor stars G4 come up with their second big album this year. This time they are reworking pop hits with such older performers as the Bee Gees' Robin Gibb and Sir Cliff Richard. It's great to welcome back the perfect hair metal retro sound of the Darkness at #11.

Best Bets For Next Week's Singles Chart

  • Sugababes - Ugly
Their last single "Push the Button" debuted on the chart at #1 and I see no particular reason this single won't come close
  • Kanye West featuring Adam Levine - Heard 'Em Say
The followup to West's #2 hit "Gold Digger" should open strongly.
  • Il Divo - O Holy Night
They've sold scores of albums. Can they bring a quite traditional Christmas classic to the top of the pop charts?
