The post-Christmas surge in digital downloads has settled a bit, and the pop singles chart has smoothed out once again. Nelly Furtado lands her second top 5 single from Loose as "Say It Right" slides into the #5 spot. My Chemical Romance score their first ever top 10 hit with "Welcome to the Black Parade," and it looks like top 10 hit #3 from FutureSex / Love Sounds is on the way for Justin Timberlake as "What Goes Around..." leaps 13 notches to #14.

The first full week of the New Year is traditionally one of the slowest sales weeks of the year, and this year is no different. The Dreamgirls soundtrack reached the top of the chart selling less than 70,000 albums this week, a new record for the period since SoundScan began counting sales back in 1991. Chris Daughtry takes his band back into the top 3 with their first album after one week out of the top 10.

Comments
The top 5 remain static this week, and the only serious movement is Justin Timberlake stopping one slot short of the top 10. Rob Thomas' album ...Something to Be was released clear back in April, 2005, but that doesn't stop him from placing the album's 3rd single in this week's radio top 40.
