Big Chart Movers

Hot New Singles

Comments

The pop singles chart has settled down after the post-Christmas rush. Chris Brown moves back into the #1 spot after a one-week absence. The Pussycat Dolls' "Stickwitu" makes a strong move back to #2 hoping to capture the top spot for the group for a second time in two tries. Ne-Yo looks like he may be the breakout artist industry experts predict as "So Sick" jets over 30 notches to #32.

Top 5 Pop Albums

  1. Jamie Foxx - Unpredictable
  2. Mary J. Blige - The Breakthrough
  3. Eminem - Curtain Call: The Hits
  4. The Strokes - First Impressions of Earth
  5. Carrie Underwood - Some Hearts

Comments

The pop albums chart is still in a very sleepy period. The Strokes make a strong opening move at #4, but the next highest debut is clear down at #188. Outside of the Notorious B.I.G. exiting the top 5, all of the remaining members of the top 5 are in the same spots where they were last week.

Best Bets For Next Week's Album Chart

  • Morningwood - Morningwood
This is the first album from a group that has generated a significant amount of critical buzz. Their sound is postpunk with a love for heavy metal guitar riffs. Bassist Pedro Yanowitz is a veteran of the Wallflowers and producer Gil Norton has worked with the likes of Echo and the Bunnymen and the Pixies.
  • We Are Scientists - With Love and Squalor
This is the major label debut for this celebrated trio. They follow along the increasingly well worn path of bands such as the Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, and the Killers.
