In its first week of digital sales availability, Maroon 5's comeback "Makes Me Wonder" roars into the top spot on the pop singles chart. It is the group's first #1. Previously, the big hits "She Will Be Loved" and "This Love" only climbed to #5. The group's second studio album It Won't Be Soon Before Long is due in stores May 22, 2007. Digital sales help Kelly Clarkson secure a top 5 placing for her single "Never Again." This is her 5th top 5 pop song. Just behind her is Carrie Underwood's version of the Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You," the centerpiece song from American Idol's big charity benefit show Idol Gives Back. The success of the show is also represented on the pop 100 by performances from Kelly Clarkson featuring Jeff Beck and Josh Groban with the African Children's Choir.

Gym Class Heroes continue to keep a firm grip on the top of the radio airplay after a 5th big week. However, Fergie and Pink are both within striking distance of the top next week. Fall Out Boy have finally gained some airplay traction with the vowel-less "Thnks fr th Mmrs."
