Comments
American Idol has an impact on the charts this week. KT Tunstall's "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" makes its first appearance in the top 30 after being performed by Katharine McPhee. A bit further down Shinedown's "I Dare You" is showing new life after Chris Daughtry's performance. At the top of the chart Rihanna looks strong in a second week at #1 with "SOS."

Comments
Tool's habit of allowing 4 years or more to elapse between albums seems to pay off handsomely. Pearl Jam is back in strong shape, but Jewel's new album sales are weak. She has failed to generate a hit single to support the album. The phenomenon of High School Musical continues as the soundtrack rises back into the top 10.

- #46-#30 Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous
Comments
Rihanna only spent 1 week at the top in airplay before Sean Paul edged back up to take control. However, Rihanna's followup "Unfaithful" is rising swiftly. Nelly Furtado's switch to hip hop/pop from her past folkie edge is looking like a good decision. The new single "Promiscuous" soared up 16 spots on the chart this week.
