American Idol Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks blows away the competition with the sales from the first week's release of his debut single "Do I Make You Proud." He has the best opening week singles sales of any AI winner since season 2. A few months after taking over the UK pop singles chart, Gnarls Barkley continue a march toward the top of the US chart entering the top 10 this week at #7, and Beyonce joins this summer's diva battle opening at #44 in her first week with "Deja Vu."

Comments

The top 5 remains relatively static as Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie" continues to rack in some of the highest single week airplay totals ever. Chamillionaire slides neatly into the top 5 at #3 with one of the top rap hits of the year. Christina Aguilera should arrive in the top 5 within a few weeks with the red-hot "Ain't No Other Man."
