This week Akon leapfrogs over himself as "Smack That" featuring Eminem knocks "I Wanna Love You" from the top. It looks like Akon will have a tough time holding the top next week with Beyonce's "Irreplaceable," now at #2, continuing to surge. Her new music video "Listen," from the soundtrack to Dreamgirls premiered on MTV's TRL yesterday. Gwen Stefani and Nelly Furtado own 2 of the hottest singles in the land as Gwen's "Wind It Up" soars into the top 10 and Nelly's "Say It Right" lands inside the top 20. Finally, note the very solid #52 debut this week for the first single from Chris Daughtry's group. Losing American Idol seems not to have harmed his budding career one bit.

It's a big week for new albums and, as expected, Jay-Z roars to the top. What is a bit unexpected is that he fails to match the first week sales figures of Justin Timberlake and Rascal Flatts earlier in the year despite the extra boost from post-Thanksgiving sales. Chris Daughtry has a very strong #2 debut selling over 300,000 copies of his self-titled group's first album. The Beatles manage yet another hit album in their illustrious career as the remixed collection Love opens at #4.

It's a bit of a logjam at the top, but there are hot radio songs on the way. Beyonce entered the top 10 with "Irreplaceable," the hit that has dominated increases in airplay for the past few weeks. Nelly Furtado looks very strong with her new hit from Loose "Say It Right," and Akon and Snoop Dogg are climbing fast with their recent overall #1 pop single "I Wanna Love You."
