Comments

There is a seasonal slowdown at the top of the chart this week, but Young Jeezy, Justin Timberlake, and Ciara all take big leaps into the top 40. 2 of the top 3 chart debuts are related to the winter holidays. The Killers' effort to concoct a Christmas classic just misses debuting inside the top 40 at #42, and Sarah McLachlan's top selling new Christmas album is represented with the debut of Sarah McLachlan's version of the Joni Mitchell classic "River."

Comments

Ciara wins the battle for the top of the album chart this week with her second album The Evolution. Her competition was nothing to sneeze at. At #2 and #3, both Eminem's rap compilation and Gwen Stefani's second solo album are somewhat disappointing in their first week sales. A slowdown in radio support for "Wind It Up" has hurt Gwen Stefani's initial sales. Although it only opens at a modest #20, the soundtrack for the movie Dreamgirls is likely to rise when the movie goes into wide release.
