The duo Karmin have emerged from seeming a bit of a hip hop novelty cover act when they first appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to being one of the big pop breakthrough acts of 2012. Their previous single "Brokenhearted" reached the top 20 on the pop singles chart and topped the dance chart. "Hello" is already a top 20 dance hit.

Critics have complained that Nicki Minaj's "Pound the Alarm" sounds too similar to her earlier 2012 hit single "Starships." However, those similarities haven't slowed the current hit on the charts.
