Although Mumford and Sons had released two massive bestselling albums, they did not have similar success on the pop singles chart until now. "I Will Wait" has topped both the alternative and rock songs charts while heading into the top 10 of the adult pop chart. Babel, the album which includes "I Will Wait" has sales approaching one million.
3. Rihanna - "Stay" featuring Mikky Ekko
"Stay" is Rihanna's second official single from the album Unapologetic. The album became her first #1 hit on the album chart and has already sold approximately 700,000 copies in the US alone. It is her sixth consecutive album to reach the top 5 on the album chart.
4. fun - "Carry On"
fun's first album Aim and Ignite was actually released in 2009. However, due to the specific rules in place, the band still qualified to win this year's Best New Artist Grammy Award. "Carry On" is the third single from the album Some Nights and it is already a top 10 hit on both the alternative and rock songs charts.
5. Baauer - "Harlem Shake"
"Harlem Shake" has erupted as a hit single around the world do to an Internet meme in which thousands of people have created 30 second "Harlem Shake" videos. The song itself was first released in May of 2012, but it had enjoyed relative obscurity until just over two weeks ago. Now it is storming pop singles charts around the world.
6. One Direction - "One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)"
Boy band One Direction recorded this latest single as an official Comic Relief charity record. Within 24 hours of release it was #1 on iTunes sales charts around the world. The single covers both Blondie's song "One Way Or Another" and the Undertones' "Teenage Kicks." It has been more than 30 years since the original release of each song.
7. Drake - "Started From the Bottom"
Rapper Drake has sold more than four million copies of his albums and EPs in the US alone. He has landed in the top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100 more than 25 times since 2009. "Started From the Bottom" is his first release from the upcoming Nothing Was the Same album. It has already reached the top 20 on both the R&B and rap songs charts.
8. Cher Lloyd - "With Ur Love"
Cher Lloyd's "With Ur Love" has had a long roundabout trip into the US pop charts. It was first released in the UK in October of 2011 and peaked at #4 there. In August 2012 Cher Lloyd announced it would be her second US single, but instead it was held back. Now it is the official third single from Cher Lloyd's debut album Sticks and Stones. "With Ur Love" has been certified as a gold single in both Australia and New Zealand.
9. Pitbull - "Feel This Moment" featuring Christina Aguilera
The latest from rapper Pitbull samples the classic #1 pop hit "Take On Me" by A-Ha. the song also features soaring guest vocals from Christina Aguilera. "Feel This Moment" is already a top 5 dance hit in the US and a top 10 pop hit in countries as diverse as Israel and Poland.
10. Krewella - "Alive"
Krewella are a Chicago based electronic dance music group. Their single "Alive" is taking off at mainstream pop radio. A debut album from the group is expected to hit stores this summer.
