Top 10 Hot Pop Songs January 22, 2013


These are the hottest 10 pop songs of the week as determined by About Top 40. This chart is compiled consulting data from various music industry charts and sources. It is intended to indicate the hottest rising hits. Recordings that have reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart are disqualified from this chart.

1. Justin Timberlake - "Suit and Tie" featuring Jay-Z

Opening sales and radio airplay for Justin Timberlake's comeback single have been very strong. "Suit and Tie" ties for the second highest debut ever on the mainstream top 40 radio chart and is expected to sell over 350,000 copies in its first week of availability.


2. Maroon 5 - "Daylight"

Maroon 5 are beginning to make progress on international pop charts with their latest single. "Daylight" is a top 20 pop hit single in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. It has also climbed inside the top 20 of the adult pop radio chart in the US.

3. Calvin Harris - "Sweet Nothing" featuring Florence Welch

Topping the UK pop singles chart last fall, "Sweet Nothing" became the first #1 hit there by Calvin Harris since 2009. On this side of the Atlantic the song has become a #1 dance hit while also climbing inside the top 20 of the mainstream pop radio chart. It is one of seven UK top 10 pop hits included on Calvin Harris' current album 18 Months.

4. The Script - "Hall Of Fame" featuring will.i.am

"Hall Of Fame" is truly an international pop smash hit for the Script. It has reached the top 10 in at least 20 different countries around the world. In the US the song is a multi-format radio hit. It has climbed inside the top 20 at both adult pop and rock radio. "Hall Of Fame" is the lead single from the album #3.

5. A$AP Rocky - "F**kin' Problems" featuring Drake, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar

This is the breakthrough hit by critically acclaimed rapper A$AP Rocky. It has reached the top 5 on both the R&B and rap songs charts. His debut album Long.Live.A$AP is expected to debut at #1 on the album chart this week. A$AP Rocky grew up in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City.

6. Bruno Mars - "When I Was Your Man"

The second single from Bruno Mars' album Unorthodox Jukebox is a piano ballad. It references heartbreak that occurred before Bruno Mars became a pop star. He performed the song live on the most recent season finale of The Voice.


7. Pink - "Try"

All six of Pink's studio albums have been certified platinum in the US. Only the most recent The Truth About Love reached #1 on the album chart. However, all but her first album were also top 10 hits on the album chart. She is one of the most successful female solo artists of the past decade.

8. Mumford and Sons - "I Will Wait"

Mumford and Sons first came together as a band in late 2007. However, their international star has risen quickly. The debut album Sigh No More was a massive hit rising into the top 10 in countries around the world. The second release Babel performed even better reaching #1 in many of those countries. "I Will Wait" is the group's highest charting pop single yet in the US.

9. Imagine Dragons - "Radioactive"

"Radioactive" is the second consecutive top 10 hit on both the alternative and rock songs charts for Imagine Dragons. The accompanying music video for the song features actor Lou Diamond Phillips. "Radioactive" has gone to #1 on the pop singles chart in Sweden and the top 5 in Canada.

10. Kelly Clarkson - "Catch My Breath"

Kelly Clarkson has gone to #1 on the dance club play chart with "Catch My Breath." It is also a top 10 adult pop hit and a top 20 adult contemporary hit. Kelly Clarkson performed the song along with contestants Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott on the finale of the TV show The Voice.
