1. Katy Perry - "Wide Awake"
Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" music video will debut next week on June 19, 2012. It was directed by Lance Drake and a preview of the clip seems to indicate it has a fairytale theme. "Wide Awake" is the last of eight singles that have been released in the overall Teenage Dream era of Katy Perry's music. So far six of those single hit #1 and one reached #3.
2. Pitbull - "Back In Time"
Pitbull's "Back In Time" has been certified gold for sales in the US. It is a top 5 pop hit in Canada. In addition to being a hit on pop charts in the US, "Back In Time" is also a top 20 rap hit.
3. Ellie Goulding - "Lights"
Ellie Goulding has said she is hoping to release her second studio album sometime this fall. Meanwhile, "Lights" has been certified platinum in the US. It is also a dance hit with a wide range of remixes available. Her debut album Lights was a #1 hit on the US Heatseekers chart.
4. Neon Trees - "Everybody Talks"
Neon Trees first released "Everybody Talks" as a single back in December 2011. It has become a top 10 alternatives songs hit and reached #11 on the rock songs chart. The accompanying album Picture Show reached the top 10 on both alternative and rock album charts while debuting inside the top 20 on the overall album chart.
5. David Guetta - "Titanium" featuring Sia
David Guetta's "Titanium" has become a massive international pop hit. It has been certified platinum for sales in at least five different countries. "Titanium" was originally intended to be sung by someone other than songwriter Sia. However, the sheer power of her vocals has been seen as a key element of the song's success.
6. Gym Class Heroes - "The Fighter" featuring Ryan Tedder
The music video for "The Fighter" features US gymnast John Orozco who states that he is "a fighter." The song is a top 10 pop hit for Gym Class Heroes in both Australia and New Zealand. It is the band's third top 10 pop hit in each country.
7. Demi Lovato - "Give Your Heart a Break"
Demi Lovato's current Unbroken album is her first to generate two top 40 pop hit singles. "Give Your Heart a Break" is a top 15 hit on the adult pop radio chart. Veteran pop songwriter Billy Steinberg is a co-writer and co-producer. Demi Lovato will gain an even higher public profile this fall when she appears as a judge on X Factor USA.
8. The Wanted - "Chasing the Sun"
UK boy band The Wanted new single "Chasing the Sun" will be featured later this summer on the soundtrack to the animated film Ice Age: Continental Drift. It has already reached #2 on the UK pop singles chart and is swiftly climbing charts here in the US. The film inclusion should give it another boost.
10. Cher Lloyd - "Want U Back"
Former X Factor UK contestant Cher Lloyd is on the verge of a major US pop breakthrough. The song peaked at #25 at home in the UK becoming her third consecutive top 40 pop hit. It is a hit in the US at pop radio.
