These are the hottest 10 pop songs of the week as determined by About Top 40. This chart is compiled consulting data from various music industry charts and sources. It is intended to indicate the hottest rising hits. Recordings that have reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart are disqualified from this chart.

1. Katy Perry - "Wide Awake"

Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" is quickly becoming a hit across multiple formats. It is charting at adult pop radio and on the dance chart in addition to mainstream top 40. The song will not be officially released in the UK until July.

2. Pitbull - "Back In Time"

Pitbull's "Back In Time" is becoming a major international pop hit. It has already reached the pop top 10 in countries as diverse as Australia and Hungary. The song is included on the soundtrack to the hit movie Men In Black 3 which has grossed nearly $400 million worldwide.

3. Rihanna - "Where Have You Been"

"Where Have You Been" has become Rihanna's 18th number one dance single. That ties her for third place overall with Beyonce. Madonna is the overall leader with 42 and Janet Jackson ranks second with 19.

4. Ellie Goulding - "Lights"

It took 19 weeks for "Lights" to reach the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. That gives it the title of the third slowest climb by a female solo artist after Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why" and KT Tunstall's "Suddenly I See." The music video accompanying "Lights" was directed by music video veteran Sophie Muller.

5. Usher - "Scream"

"Scream" is Usher's 17th top 20 pop hit single since he first hit the upper reaches of the pop chart in 1997 with "You Make Me Wanna..." Looking 4 Myself, his next album, is due to hit stores next week on June 12, 2012. Usher has a streak of three consecutive #1 studio albums.

6. David Guetta - "Titanium" featuring Sia

"Titanium" is David Guetta's fourth top 40 pop hit single from the album Nothing But the Beat. He had only reached the top 40 twice before this album. Nothing But the Beat is also his first top 10 hit on the album chart. It debuted at #5 and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

7. Karmin - "Brokenhearted"

Karmin continue their march up pop singles charts. "Brokenhearted" has entered the top 10 at mainstream top 40 radio airplay. The duo's debut EP opened on the Billboard album chart at #18.

8. The Wanted - "Chasing the Sun"

UK boy band The Wanted surge on to the US pop charts with their follow up to the top 3 breakthrough hit "Glad You Came." "Chasing the Sun" narrowly missed out on being the group's third #1 hit in the UK and had to settle for a #2 chart placing. "Chasing the Sun" is already a top 40 dance hit in the US.

9. B.o.B. - "Both Of Us" featuring Taylor Swift

"Both Of Us" is the third top 20 pop hit from B.o.B.'s album Strange Clouds. The upcoming music video is expected to include Taylor Swift. "Both Of Us" is Taylor Swift's third top 40 pop hit single as featured artist.
