The album 21 has been certified 10 times platinum in the UK and is one of the biggest hit albums of all time.
2. Lady Gaga - "You and I"
Lady Gaga worked with rock producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange on "You and I." The result is that it is one of the most rock-oriented of her singles. "You and I" also has strong country elements. The artwork for the single features a male character created by Lady Gaga named Jo Calderone. He first appeared in June 2011 in a series of photos by UK artist Nick Knight.
3. David Guetta - "Without You" featuring Usher
Taio Cruz helped contribute to the songwriting team that created "Without You." The song is not slated to be officially promoted to pop radio until September 27, 2011, but it is already taking off due to public demand. It is a top 20 dance hit in the UK.
4. Rihanna - "Cheers (Drink To That)"
Avril Lavigne and Kanye West make cameo appearances in Rihanna's video accompanying "Cheers (Drink To That)." Avril Lavigne also receives a songwriting credit due to the use of elements of her song "I'm With You." She has stated that it was exciting to be included on "Cheers (Drink To That)" because "I'm With You" is one of her personal favorites among the songs in her repertoire.
5. Jason Derulo - "It Girl"
"It Girl" is the second single from Jason Derulo's upcoming sophomore album Future History. It was produced by veteran pop producer Emanuel Kiriakou. "It Girl" is already a top 3 pop hit single in Australia and New Zealand. In the US it is Jason Derulo's fifth top 40 pop hit.
6. Dev - "In the Dark"
Dev's family is from Costa Rica, but she grew up in California. She left college in her freshman year to pursue a career in music along with the production team the Cataracs. They have collaborated on her upcoming debut album The Night the Sun Came Up. It is set to hit stores September 20, 2011.
7. Alexandra Stan - "Mr. Saxobeat"
22 year old Alexandra Stan was born and raised in Romania. "Mr. Saxobeat" topped the Romanian pop singles chart for eight consecutive weeks. The song was then promoted in other countries and it has become a major hit around the world. Alexandra Stan's follow-up single "Get Back (ASAP)" is a top 5 pop hit in Romania. The full length debut album will be titled Saxobeats.
8. Cobra Starship - "You Make Me Feel..." featuring Sabi
Cobra Starship are one of the leading bands on the Fueled By Ramen record label which is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary. Their first album While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets was released in 2006. Their fourth studio album Night Shades hit stores just last week.
9. The Script - "Nothing"
The Script are an Irish pop-rock band based in Dublin, Ireland. Their first single "We Cry" went to the top 10 in Ireland and #15 in the UK in 2008. It was followed by the single "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" which landed at #2 in both nations. That song proved to be the US breakthrough for the Script as it peaked inside the top 20 on the adult pop radio chart. "Nothing" has become the Script's sixth top 20 pop hit single at home in Ireland.
10. Patrick Stump - "This City" featuring Lupe Fiasco
Patrick Stump first gained significant acclaim as the lead vocalist for Fall Out Boy. "This City" is a single from his upcoming debut solo album Soul Punk which is due to be available in stores October 18, 2011. On this single he teams up with rapper Lupe Fiasco to sing the praises of their hometown of Chicago.
