Mike Posner's Early Life:
Mike Posner was born February 13, 1988 in Detroit, Michigan. After high school graduation he attended Duke University in North Carolina. He sent a CD of his hip hop beats with his college application. While attending college Mike Posner continued to explore his interest in music.
Mixtapes:
Mike Posner's first mixtape A Matter of Time was self-released in February 2009. It is hosted by Don Cannon and mixed by DJ Benzi. Among the guests on the tape are Island Def Jam artist Big Sean. A second mixtape One Foot Out the Door was released in October 2009. This time Mike Posner's spreading reputation resulted in Kid Cudi, 3OH!3 and Soulja Boy Tell 'Em all making appearances.
Major Label Contract and "Cooler Than Me":
In July of 2009 Mike Posner signed a major label recording deal with J Records. Mike Posner's first single under the contract was a reworking of the song "Cooler Than Me." It became a top 10 pop smash in the summer of 2010. The debut album 31 Minutes To Takeoff will follow in stores August 10, 2010. Mike Posner toured through the summer of 2010 as part of Warped Tour.
