Rihanna Signed to Recording Contract

Born February 20, 1988 in the Caribbean island nation of Barbados, Robyn Rihanna Fenty was first discovered by record producer Evan Rogers when he visited Barbados in Christmas 2003 with his wife. Rogers helped her record demo tracks and those ended up in the hands of Jay-Z, rapper and head of Def Jam Records. Reportedly, Jay-Z was so impressed with her talent that he instantly signed Rihanna to a multi-album contract.
