Formation of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus:

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus came together in the small town of Middleburg, Florida.

Early Days of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus:

At the time of the band’s formation, members never intended on doing live shows or studio recording. After practicing for well over a year together, however, friends and family of the band encouraged them to at least play at some local bars and clubs. Doing so helped Red Jumpsuit Apparatus become hometown favorites of Middleburg, Florida, and support for the group began spreading throughout the rest of the state.

Band Members:

  • Ronnie Winter- Lead Vocals
  • Elias Reidy- Guitar, Backing Vocals
  • Duke Kitchens- Guitar, Backing Vocals
  • Joey Westwood- Bass
  • John Wilkes- Drums

Quote From Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’ Elias Reidy:

From PureVolume.com in response to the fact that the band's name means nothing in particular:

"I think its funny when bands scramble their brains to try and come up with some unique, untouchable band name. Why waste time thinking of something when we could be concentrating on music instead?"

From Adversity to Breakthrough Success for Red Jumpsuit Apparatus:

After recording their first EP, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus failed to receive a record deal despite their early popularity. The frustration of these events caused multiple disputes within the band, and several members exited soon after. Only Duke Kitchens and Ronnie Winter remained, and the two quickly rebuilt the band. Soon after, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus signed a recording contract with Virgin Records.

In 2005, the band toured and began recording the album Don’t You Fake It. The album was eventually released in July, 2006. Performing on the Warped Tour along with the success of lead single “Face Down” led to a gold certification for Don’t You Fake It toward the end of 2006. “Face Down” was nearing the top 20 of the pop singles chart by early March, 2007.
