Shwayze Background:

Shwayze, born Aaron Smith in 1986, hails from Malibu, California. However, he grew up in one of the less prosperous areas of the city known for its celebrity culture. He was discovered while doing freestyle rapping on stage performing with his friend, Alex Orbison, son of rock n roll legend Roy Orbison. Shwayze became friends with the members of Orbison's band Whitestarr.

Connection With Cisco Adler:

Another Whitestarr member, Cisco Adler, son of legendary music manager Lou Adler, decided to begin musically collaborating with Shwayze. Adler began producing and co-writing as well as occasionally performing with Shwayze. Adler has a notorious public persona mostly due to high profile relationships with female celebrities including Paris Hilton and Mischa Barton.

The Sound of Shwayze:

Shwayze's music is a laidback pop hip hop style. There are similarities at times to the sound of Jack Johnson except with hip hop vocals added.

Pop Breakthrough:

The Shwayze single "Buzzin" broke onto national pop singles chart in late spring 2008. Shwayze and Cisco Adler secured a reality show gig with MTV that would depict their attempt at a rise to fame. The show is alsot titled Buzzin'. In July the single "Corona and Lime" was released and immediately entered the pop top 40.
