The Spice Girls were one of the world's most successful recording acts of the late 1990's. Geri Halliwell left the group in 1998, but the remaining 4 did not officially break up until early 2001. Almost since the breakup was announced, reunion rumors have swirled. The group announced in the summer of 2007 that they would reunite for a concert tour at the end of the year.
This is a look at the group and the individual members back in their peak years and where they are in 2007.

6 years after the group broke up the individual Spice Girls were seeing their own success as entertainment figures begin to wane. However, judging by the instant public interest, fans were ready for any news of a reunion.
Victoria Beckham - 1999
Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, was always a magnet for media attention. However, she was the only one of the Spice Girls to not have a solo on their breakthrough single "Wannabe." As the group continued performing and recording, she received more acclaim for her vocal talents. The media nickname Posh originated from Beckham's elegant bearing and penchant for stylish clothes.
When the group first hit the charts, Victoria Beckham was Victoria Adams. She began dating football star David Beckham in 1997, and they were married July 4, 1999.

Victoria Beckham has rarely been out of the tabloid spotlight due to her high profile marriage to David Beckham. Reportedly, she will be helping put together a TV reality series about her move to America brought about by her husband's signing to a Los Angeles based soccer team.
Melanie Brown - 1996
Melanie Brown, aka Scary Spice, kicked off her solo musical career at the height of the Spice Girls' success. Melanie Brown had some minor acting success, but she landed in the tabloids again with rumors of a relationship with Eddie Murphy. According to some sources, she is planning a serious musical comeback in 2008.
Emma Bunton - 2000
Emma Bunton, aka Baby Spice, received her nickname due to the fact she was the youngest member of the Spice Girls. She also had a habit of wearing baby doll style dresses. Bunton had some experience in television acting before joining the Spice Girls. Emma Bunton was a replacement for Michelle Stephenson who was a member of the group when they were known as Touch. She did not release a solo album until 2001 after the group's breakup had been announced.

She is also a familiar television personality particularly due to appearances on the comedy show Absolutely Fabulous. However, her most recent album Life in Mono peaked at a disappointing #65.
Melanie Chisholm - 1999
Melanie Chisholm, aka Sporty Spice, received her nickname due to her tendency to wear tracksuits, and, according to the press, a tomboyish look and attitude. Chisholm headed toward a solo career in 1998 recording a duet with Canadian singer Bryan Adams. It quickly hit the UK top 10. Northern Star, the first solo album, appeared in late 1999.

This remains the best US chart performance by any albums from solo Spice Girls.
