The Bottom Line
If you fell in love with Fall Out Boy listening to "Sugar, We're Goin' Down," or even before, you're likely to enjoy riding the wave of the followup single "Dance, Dance." However, it is unlikely to convert skeptics. It's basically more of the same, and that is a good thing.

Guide Review - Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance (Island)
Probably the best way to enjoy "Dance, Dance" is to watch the music video. It stars the members of Fall Out Boy in a 'Triumph Of the Geeks' take on the classic high school Homecoming Dance. The band performing for the dance just happens to be Fall Out Boy as well. Formerly, choreographed dancing usually was only featured in videos for r&b and club dance songs. However, with the work of bands like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance, any song with a dance-friendly rhythm can be the subject of a group dance production number.
The intriguing poetic lines in the lyric content of "Dance, Dance" are typical of much of Fall Out Boy's work. Lines such as "Dance, dance, we're falling apart to half time," and "I'm two quarters and a heart down, and I don't want to forget how your voice sounds" are great in isolation, but in the context of the song are rather disjointed. With some tightening up, Peter Wentz's lyrics may become very powerful as well as clever and intelligent.
