The Bottom Line
It's the sound of teen girls (and probably a few older ones, too) swooning. The Jonas Brothers' 3rd single from their self-titled debut album is likely to consolidate their success so far and could even yield a top 10 pop hit with radio on board. The song is standard aching power ballad, but the brothers' energy carries the day.
- Vocals from Nick and Joe dripping with emotion
- Bristling young energy
- Standard, simple power ballad territory

Guide Review - Jonas Brothers - When You Look Me in the Eyes
It seems it may have taken 3 teen brothers from New Jersey to convince the American pop radio power brokers that Disney was actually making some fine pop music that a broad audience could enjoy. Not only did their single "S.O.S." turn into a legitimate pop radio hit, but they also pulled fellow tween megastar Miley Cyrus onto radio stations across the country with her snappy "See You Again."
To keep building on that success the Jonas Brothers have dropped a big power ballad that just may do the trick. Lyrically and musically "When You Look Me in the Eyes" is nothing special. However, the song avoids wallowing in cliche by featuring the ever-present youthful energy of Nick and Joe Jonas sharing vocals. Turning the song into a vocal duet lifts this record well above banality.
Add this one to the lists for school dances throughout this spring. Young couples everywhere will happily gaze into each others eyes while moving across the floor to the strum of Kevin Jonas' guitar. They may just believe they've caught "a glimpse of heaven."
