The Bottom Line
The second single from teen sensation Paula DeAnda helps us understand why Clive Davis signed her to a contract on the spot. At the tender age of 17 she has the vocal chops and charisma to carry a song that delivers pleasing echoes of both Mariah Carey's megahit "We Belong Together" and Fort Minor's bittersweet "Where'd You Go".

Guide Review - Paula DeAnda featuring the DEY - Walk Away (Remember Me)
For the average 17-year-old singer, being asked to record a song written by Ne-Yo and Christina Milian and produced by the hot Norwegian duo StarGate may seem tremendously intimidating. If that was the case for Paula DeAnda, she hides it very well. "Walk Away (Remember Me)" is a bittersweet pop creation that could easily result in DeAnda's first single to reach the US pop top 10.
In lyrics and feel, "Walk Away (Remember Me)" conjures up memories of Mariah Carey's end-of-relationship angst on her smash comeback "We Belong Together." The effortless blend of featured rap from the DEY, melancholy piano chords, and sung vocals is reminiscent of Fort Minor's recent top 5 hit "Where'd You Go". However, these echoes purely amount to inspiration for the record. There is nothing stolen here.
Paula DeAnda is clearly a singer to watch. She proves here she has the vocal chops to deliver hit material. Add on great looks and Latin background that adds a touch of universality to her work and the future looks very bright for Paula DeAnda.
